Imagine a father and his two sons planning that someday when schedules allow for it, just the three of them would embark upon that hunting trip that ties and binds the three of them forever. Now the trip comes closer and it time to choose the best area for a deer-hunting trip. Dad and his two sons start looking for information that will lead them to the best two weeks of their lives. Choosing a website for that information is as close as http://www.huntinpro.com and what they discover is a series of articles that provide guidance to a great region of the country to hunt deer. Several articles include ranges of dates when hunting is allowed for the various regions in the United States. Information explaining allowable take of several different animals is included along with references to specific parks for those regions of the country.

Many baby boomers are asking the same question over the past week. Working hard to raise their families and complete the cycle of their careers, these people learned in the mid-1980s that saving in 401k plans with matching employer donations would result in 25-30 years of concerted saving that would ensure their survival and some enjoyment thrown in after retirement.
Sounded like a smart idea! And, it was! Who would have ever thought that a history-making event call a "mortgage meltdown" would trigger a chain-reaction of events that would lead to a financial crisis of historic proportions? There really was no way of predicting such a nightmare, but, just the same, it's a reality that has gripped the lives of every American!!
With over $2 trillion in retirement savings lost from the accompanying stock market reaction to this financial crisis it's pretty safe to assume that everyone's retirement package has been hit very hard. All of the ramifications that accompany this unbelievable loss of money is very hard to assess at this point in the process. What we do know is this; the troubles are only beginning to hit those of us on "main street" America and, in spite of efforts by the federal government to stop the bleeding, we are going to witness one of the worst economic calamities in American history!
As Barack Obama said on Wednesday, "Americans now have to ask themselves, are they better off now than they were 2 WEEKS ago". I have absolutely no idea what the economic situation of most of us will be 2 weeks from now ..... much less 2 months!!! My wife and I have lost nearly $30 thousand from our I.R.A. in the last month alone! We still have our house and a car and food on the table, though, and I thank God everyday for having a roof over our heads and food on the table.
We've got to keep our heads about this whole situation and ride it out .... just as our grandparents did 80 years ago during The Great Depression! It is truly amazing that some of our leading economists are no longer saying to Americans that The Great Depression will never happen again.
