The 2008 Major League baseball season has witnessed a number of surprises, particularly in the American League, where the Tampa Bay Rays have become the leaders of the Eastern Division and surprisingly both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are fighting for a wildcard position in September’s playoff picture. This was not the case before the All-Star game in early July, when Boston was ahead of Tampa Bay in the standings. Many baseball observers point to injuries to Boston’s outstanding starting pitching as one of the major factors contributing to the turnaround. Whatever happens between now and the end of September, this year’s season has been anything but predictable and should continue to be so until the end of the regular season. Without mentioning the disasters of the 2005 hurricane season, we are still mindful that Nature has the power to inflict a tremendous amount of damage and human agony. It has been almost 3 years since the southern United States has witnessed anything close to the fury unleashed in the 2005 storms.
Now, with a new hurricane named Gustov approaching Cuba and then the Gulf of Mexico we are reminded that the fortunes of humanity can change in a very short period of time. Together, we can only pray that Gustov will somehow disperse and will not pose the same degree of threat witnessed nearly 3 years ago.
These weather phenomena just serve again to remind us how prone we are to Nature's fury. Should Gustov strengthen into a major hurricane, as many weather forcasters are fearing, we have no option but to prepare as best we can and pray to God that He spare the human tragedies witnessed in previous years. God bless all those who could be affected!!

Have you ever noticed the "ESP" that every family member has for one another? I imagine that both mothers and fathers are famous for possessing this notable trait! The children mumble to themselves, "How did dad know that I did that?!" Remembering when I was young how often that thought passed through my mind. I began to think my mother possessed the power to become invisable and see what I was doing, just when I thought I had gotten away with something!
Actually, every family member acquires this sense of knowing what makes the rest of the family happy or sad. I like to call it the "glue" that makes a family so special and keeps them together through thick and thin! God knows exactly how special family units are and He makes the extra effort to keep every member "in touch" with one another. We pray for it ...... and He gives it to us in so many special ways!
Extra sensory perception (ESP) is just one of the countless blessings that family members share with one another. How could anyone think of a family as less than the single most important gift from such a merciful God!
