Why Did You Apologize, AGAIN, if You Didn't Mean It?

Did you apologize for your mistake with a good intention to never make that mistake again? According to experts on this subject, the correct apology comes AFTER you have determined to change your behavior with regard to your mistake.
I have made several attempts to do just that. Before I apologize to someone for a mistake that is my fault I pause and thing of what I am going to do to change my behavior; with the result being that I don't apologize for the same mistake twice!
You know what? I find myself not making apologies to someone nearly as often as before! But, when I do apologize, it means that I am going to follow through with improvements to my behavior. So, the correct apology carries with it an ownership of the mistake .... along with the ownership to correct the problem.
I should have learned this lesson a long time ago. It tells me that I am doing better than I used to do. I think before I say something that I might regret saying later.
