How do You Know What LOVE is in a MARRIAGE

What is love and how do any of us know when we are in love? Is love something we feel inside? Are we in love with someone else as long as that feeling is present? Or, is there a better definition of love; one that everyone can easily identify with?
Christ said that if you love Him, then you will keep His commandments. Here is the question that gave me something to really think about. Do I love Christ because it is a feeling inside of me?
What about friends and neighbors? Is it a feeling inside that defines who I love? What if I simply loose that feeling?
The answer is that love is much more than a feeling that I have for whom ever I say that I'm in love with. LOVE IS A DECISION that I am free to make. I know for sure that I am in love when I make that decision concerning whoever, or whatever it is.
For example, I know that I love my wife because I freely decided that she is the woman who I want to spend the rest of my life with. In our marriage, situations have come and gone where I lost the FEELING that I was in love with her. Instead of becoming confused and questioning our marriage, I have focused on the FACT that I made that DECISION to love and honor her til death do us part.
That one DEFINITION of love, for me anyway, becomes my rock to stand on. I'm proud of the reasons I used to come to that decision. I'm to be held personally accountable for the DECISION I MADE. It doesn't matter when I made it. I only matters that I can look at my love for her as the best decision I've made in life.
My advice to you. Think of the love you feel for those special people in your life as being real special DECISIONS that you made. Think of yourself as being held accountable for these decisions. Think about WHY you made them.
It just might help to see love in a new light!
