Is Marriage Just for the RICH?

I've read a number of comments to the effect that tax breaks favor marriage over civil unions! Even the government wants to get in on the act! Well, I have to agree that it's true.
Does a marriage become RICHER with greater income and government backing? Some might say that money doesn't solve everything...but it sure beats whatever is in second place! Here's my take on the subject of marriage and richness.
Money does pay the bills. We all have to do that, right? It stops there!
I've seen marriages that are "RICH", and i've seen "RICH MARRIAGES"! In the first instance, both partners are enriched through being with one another, be it thick or thin. Both partners are better off every morning they awake, thru God's gifts of love and trust! Everything after that is just "icing on the cake"!
In the second instance, there is never enough to satisfy both partners. Each new day is defined by more earthly treasures. The end of each day is defined by anxiety and dissatisfaction. Both look at one another and think, "He didn't do this or that for me!......and She didn't understand me on this or that!".
Ya know what? I would rather be dirt poor and enriched with my best friend any day! Raise the bar on trusting and lower the bar on gains of earthly possessions! Pray to God and ask Him for patience and understanding.
